Thessaly Greece is a region located on the northern side of the country. Except for Meteora and Pelion, the other tourist places of Thessaly are not open to foreign tourism. This region is bordered by mountains from three sides and the Aegean Sea on the eastern side. In the centre, there are vast plains and this is why many inhabitants occupy with agriculture. Thessaly is a region of the Greek mainland, geographically between Macedonia and Sterea. The eastern coasts of Thessaly in the Aegean Sea form many lovely beaches and places for summer holidays. The peninsula of Pelion has the most beautiful villages in Thessaly, located on the slopes of hills and offering breathtaking view to the sea. Makrinitsa, Portaria, Tsagarada, Milies and Trikeri are the most famous mountainous villages of Pelion, while Afissos, Agia Kyriaki, Platanias and Agios Ioannis are equally nice villages on the seaside. Volos and Larissia are the largest towns of with special character each, while Trikala, Karditsa and Kalambaka are small towns built in the flat plains. Mylopotamos, Fakistra, Agios Ioannis, Horefto, Damouchari and Papa Nero are only few of the gorgeous beaches in eastern Pelion. They distinguish for the exotic water and the wild nature. You can also find relaxing beaches in Pagasetic Gulf, such as Kala Nera and Afissos. Other beautiful beaches in Thessaly are located close to Larissa, in the region of Agiokampos.
