Schinoussa

Schinoussa is a tiny island geographically located south of Naxos. With totally secluded beaches, Schinoussa can be visited as a day trip from Naxos or for short holidays. The main and only village of Schinoussa is where most taverns and shops are found, while the surrounding beaches can be accessed by foot or private means of transport. Some seaside studios are located above few beaches of Schinoussa, offering a totally private environment for holidays.

The island of Schinoussa is one of the Greek islands of the Aegean Sea and it belongs to the Cyclades islands group. Schinoussa island is a tiny, quiet and remote island with very few permanent inhabitants and a limited number of visitors every summer. The villages of Schinoussa, in Greece, are small and have kept their traditional Cycladic architecture. Dominant colours are blue and white. The capital village is Chora or Panagia, while the main port is Mersini. The beaches are not famous for their popularity, but for the unique natural beauty and the calmness they provide to visitors. Although some beaches of Schinoussa island are difficult to access, each one has something special. Apart from swimming and hiking, there are actually no other things to do on this tiny island. Most beautiful beaches are Almyros, Livadi, Tsigouri and Lioliou, all with crystal water.

As tourism development is limited on the island, Schinoussa has few accommodation options. Most tourist accommodations are concentrated at the port, the village of Chora, and Tsigouri beach. There are no large hotels in Schinoussa, but traditional studios, apartments and rooms to rent. Therefore holidays in Schinoussa are more simple and away from crowds. As there is no public transport on the island, some hotels offer bus schedules to the beaches.
